So I just got home from a screening of the movie 2012. Its the first time I've gone to see a movie about the world coming to an end, or massive world destruction in a very long time. I won't give away any of the movie (it comes out Friday if you want to see it) and I can't say I buy into the premise of the movie (I think the world as we know it will end when God is good and ready to end it and not a second sooner). But its one of those movies that helps you put the trivial details of your life into perspective. The things we get so distracted by or which seem like such huge events in our lives become so unimportant when faced with something like living through the last days and knowing the world as you know it is about to change and you can't do anything about it. Moving on to a lighter topic, I had won tickets about a month ago to "The Affair" which was billed as an event featuring the best in entertaining (yeah like I ever entertain). It was pretty much the chocolate festival that I attended last year with some additional vendors and activities included. My favorite (and apparently only) minnesota model agency - ignite models - was there doing a showcase. I've worked with them on several fashion shows now and even I'm getting tired of seeing the same models at every event (the clothes are usually cute though). I found some nice surprises at the event though, including Obsession Chocolates, which has a passionfruit truffle that is amazing. Not to mention so many varieties of flavored truffles that you would lose your mind (especially if you're a chocolate fiend like me). They even had a root beer float truffle (and it tasted just like one too). Yummy. Another exhibitor of interest was Gigisguide.com - apparently its a site that seeks to simplify the life of the lady on the go...sounds like my kind of service. After the event I found out that I won a free body scrub from Scensations, one of the exhibitors that sells all natural at home spa products.
One last highlight of the weekend was Soul Food Sunday Dinner, an event that a friend and coworker put together at her house as an ode to sunday dinner. We each made a "soul food" dish and brought it to dinner. There was so much food: fried chicken, mac and cheese, cornbread, yams, deviled eggs (which was one of my contributions), and turkey...just to name a few. Let's just say I left nice and full - everything was so good. Ok its past my bedtime...time to run!
