Random Stuff

Ok so I bought one of my favorite movies of all time on dvd yesterday (that would be "Sparkle" - I've had it for years on vhs). I just watched and I'm so upset! First of all, my incentive for buying the dvd was that there might be some cool added features on there. Nothing. Not even an aretha performance (she did the soundtrack). Then they had the nerve to delete some scenes. Are you kidding me??? What a rip off!
In other news, I finally did my first 20 minute workout of jillian michaels 30 day shred today. Let's just say I'm still trying to catch my breathe. I only did level one and I thought I was going to pass out at times. The workout is based on alternating 3 minutes of strenght training, 2 minutes of cardio and 1 minute of abs workout, and you do 3 rounds with a warm up and cool down. Oh yeah, and there are no breaks. So far I would recommend it. Its a total body workout. And I am definitely feeling it. My goal is to get nice and toned. Hopefully I'll start seeing some results in a few weeks.
Otherwise my weekend was pretty cool. I went to the Dakota (jazz club) with Erin, Jamal, and one of their Medtronic friends. We went to see Nachito Herrera, who I had never heard of before but he was pretty amazing. He's a pianist and I was watching him dumbfounded that someone's hands can actually move that fast. He brought his daughter on stage at one point (she looked to be in her early 20s) to sing while he played. It wouldve been cool except she sang about three songs completely in spanish. Ok I can understand spanish pretty decently and even I was annoyed. This is minneapolis. We don't even have a large spanish population. We stayed for the late night show at Dakota which turned out to be some band called Black Blondie (I'll leave that one alone). They were horrible. The lead singers voice wasn't that great, the song lyrics didn't make much sense and the only guy in the group (the drummer) looked so stiff and odd, but I would not laugh at him b/c I thought there was a possibility he might be mentally handicapped. We ended up leaving halfway through their set. Last night I met erin at the mall of america to check out this new bead store that opened there called beadniks. There were LOTS of beads, and I ended up buying several to make a necklace and a bracelet. I was so disappointed though when I got home and started working on the bracelet and found out that the holes in one set of beads were all different, so they looked lopsided on my bracelet. What a waste! I ended up having to switch it up and I made this beautiful bracelet with purple and pink beads and a silver toggle clasp (I'll try to post a pic soon). It looks so professional to me (as opposed to the very amateur looking jewelry that I've done in the past). I'm going to try to work on the necklace tonight.
Ok I have to go make my sunday evening calls home. Until next time...
